Frequently asked questions about BuyLatam
Everything you need to know about how BuyLatam works: what it is, what it costs, how we verify manufacturers, how we're different from other platforms, and much more.
01
What is BuyLatam?
BuyLatam is a B2B platform that connects verified Latin American manufacturers with professional buyers across the region. It uses AI-powered matching to identify which buyers may be relevant for each manufacturer and delivers those leads in an organized way with verified contact data. At this stage, it is completely free for manufacturers.
02
Is BuyLatam similar to Alibaba?
BuyLatam is focused exclusively on Latin American manufacturers. Unlike Alibaba, which is a global marketplace dominated by Asian suppliers, BuyLatam specializes in verified manufacturers from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and other countries in the region. It does not charge a transaction commission and connects buyers directly with manufacturers.
03
Does BuyLatam charge commissions on transactions?
No. BuyLatam does not charge commissions on commercial transactions. The platform connects professional buyers directly with verified manufacturers without intervening in payments, contracts, or negotiations. At this launch stage, use for manufacturers is completely free.
04
How much does BuyLatam cost for manufacturers?
At this stage, BuyLatam is free for manufacturers. Onboarding, access to the dashboard, and 60 leads in 3 waves come at no cost and do not require a credit card. The monetization model activates in later phases without affecting those who join today.
05
How does the BuyLatam lead system work?
The manufacturer completes onboarding in under 10 minutes. They then receive a first wave of 20 qualified leads with a Match Score and the reason for the match. They review the leads, contact those they are interested in, and leave feedback on quality. The system uses that feedback to generate a more precise second wave. The cycle repeats up to 60 leads across 3 iterative waves.
06
What is the Match Score?
It's a score that BuyLatam assigns to each lead based on the probability that the buyer will be interested in the manufacturer's product. It combines profile analysis, sector, geography, search history, and other factors. The manufacturer uses the Match Score to prioritize who to contact first.
07
How are manufacturers verified on BuyLatam?
Manufacturers go through a validation process that includes review of business data, corporate documentation, available certifications, and structured profiling of production capabilities. This process reduces commercial risk for buyers and differentiates BuyLatam from unfiltered marketplaces.
08
Which industries are available on the platform?
BuyLatam covers multiple B2B sectors: Home & Living (furniture, upholstery, lighting, decor), Packaging (flexible, rigid, sustainable), Automotive (indirect procurement + Tier 2-3), Oil & Gas (Vaca Muerta), Food & Beverage, Industrial Machinery, Construction, Textiles, PPE & uniforms, Personal Care, and Tools.
09
Is BuyLatam available for international buyers?
Yes. The platform is designed for professional buyers from any country who want to source from manufacturers in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. Buyer access is being rolled out in stages — currently some buyers access via waitlist and others are already operating on the platform.
10
Does BuyLatam process payments or contracts?
No. BuyLatam does not intervene in payments, contracts, or commercial terms. It works as digital infrastructure to facilitate direct connections between companies. The final commercial agreement is closed directly between the manufacturer and the buyer, under terms both parties define.
11
Which countries does BuyLatam cover?
Manufacturers are primarily from Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, with smaller presence in other countries in the region. Buyers include companies from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. The geographic focus is strictly Latin America.
12
Does BuyLatam replace international trade shows?
No. BuyLatam complements trade shows by solving what they do not solve: the continuous flow of qualified leads between events. Trade shows remain valuable for building relationships and seeing products in person, but between one show and the next there can be 8 to 11 months with no pipeline. BuyLatam fills that gap.
13
How is BuyLatam different from other B2B platforms?
Three main differences: exclusive focus on Latin American manufacturers (not global), AI-driven matching based on iterative feedback from the manufacturer (not an open catalog), and a no-commission-per-transaction model (not memberships + fees). The result is a system designed specifically for the profile of the Latin American industrial SME.
14
Do I need a website or digital catalog to use BuyLatam?
It is not required. BuyLatam's onboarding captures the essential information about your factory directly: categories, capabilities, certifications, and catalog. If you have a website or PDF catalog, you can upload it during the process. If you don't, you can still get started.
15
How long does it take to receive the first leads after onboarding?
The first wave of 20 leads is typically delivered within a few days of completing onboarding. The exact time depends on the sector, the categories loaded, and the availability of active buyers at that moment. The system prioritizes quality over speed — the leads you receive are already filtered by relevance.
16
What happens if the leads are not relevant to my factory?
The system is designed to improve with feedback. After the first wave, the manufacturer marks which leads were relevant and which were not, and adds qualitative comments. That information feeds into the second and third waves, which are more precise than the previous one. Feedback is the key to making the matching work well.
17
Does BuyLatam replace a sales representative?
No. A sales representative manages the relationship with each client, negotiates prices, and closes sales — everything that comes after the initial introduction. BuyLatam generates the leads, but commercial management remains with you. Think of it as an automated prospecting team that delivers qualified contacts; closing is up to you.
18
How do I sign up for BuyLatam?
Go to www.buy-latam.com, click 'List your company', and complete the onboarding. The process takes less than 10 minutes and does not require a credit card. Once completed, you start receiving leads within a few days.
